Things to do in Washington, DC and Northern Virginia  We hope you'll be able to find some extra time to explore Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, DC! Here are a couple suggestions of things Jolie and Zack have done... George Washington's Mount Vernon Estate is a great living museum, well worth the visit.  Our ceremony and reception will be at the Mount Vernon Inn Restaurant, just at the edge of the grounds. To see the mansion and other Mount Vernon attractions, you will need to visit before or after the wedding.    Fall Harvest Family Days - To celebrate the fall, Mount Vernon has many special family activities (wagon rides, straw maze, apple roasting) and discounted adult ($17) and children ($8) tickets available for Saturday the 26th and Sunday the 27th. (great timing with our wedding!) George Washington's Distillery - Check out original and still-working GW's distillery.   National Treasure Tour - See the Mount Vernon sights referenced in the movie National Treasure: Book of Secrets.  Around DC... Bike around DC - See the White House, Lincoln Memorial, Jefferson Memorial, and the monuments!  Jolie and Zack took a bike tour with Bike and Roll: http://www.bikeandroll.com/washingtondc/ Get a drink overlooking DC - The W Hotel's roof-top bar Point of View (POV) looks over the East Wing of the White House and the rest of the city.   Paddle Boat on the Potomac -  $12 gets you an hour of paddle boating.  Great views, as seen in our engagement photos!  http://www.tidalbasinpaddleboats.com/ Newseum - the Newseum is a private (not-Smithsonian/free) museum ... but very much worth a visit! Ben's Chili Bowl - Worth the trip up to U-street! Get the classic chili half-smoke. Jolie and Zack try to eat here before going to concerts at the nearby 9:30 Club. http://benschilibowl.com/ Around Old Town... Eamonn's Dublin Chipper - Best fish and chips!  This is the place Zack and Jolie had lunch before Zack proposed.  Very fancy. Glass Harp Player - Check out the street musician at the corner of King St. and North Union St.  Very talented and unique. Pop's Old Fashioned Ice Cream - Great stuff.  So many candy-bar flavors... Founder's Park - Nice open area at the waterfront of Old Town. Around Tysons Corner / Virginia... See the Space Shuttle and an SR-71 Blackbird!  The Udvar-Hazy Smithsonian Air and Space Museum is a huge hangar with hundreds of full-sized planes (and helicopters and space vehicles!). Zack's favorite is the  SR-71...just so cool. Great Falls National Park - A nice spot with great view of the falls dividing Virginia and Maryland.  Jolie and Zack like to bring Wilco here.  Stop by on the way to Udvar-Hazy. http://www.nps.gov/grfa/index.htm Rollercoasters - One of Jolie and Zack's first dates was to King's Dominion amusement park!  KD is an hour south of Old Town and a full day of fun.
